AK Villa 2 borrows from contemporary, tropical and hacienda styles to produce an astonishing effect. Traditional Talavera and Saltillo tiles throughout the home mix beautifully with local Mayan and modern art. The home incorporates furnishings from Mexico’s interior with oversized iron and glass chandeliers, sculptural art and handmade furniture. In contrast, the house is bathed in natural light and integrates towering tree trunks culled from the heart of the Mayan jungle. The effect is old world charm, tropical attitude and modern luxury in an unforgettable setting.
The spacious floor plan flows, from its 25-foot foyer to its distinct but adjoining living, dining and kitchen environments, all framed in glass. The living area comfortably seats your entire party on tastefully appointed couches and antique wooden chairs reminiscent of hacienda style living. The handmade wooden trestle dining table seats eight and is accented with a fabulous wrought iron chandelier.
The fully equipped kitchen of stained concrete countertops, Talavera tile, and stainless steel appliances are sure to please the most demanding of chefs. Prepare your own feast or enjoy a traditional Mexican meal prepared at your request by our onsite staff. This large kitchen includes its own intimate round table seating for four with full views of the pool and Caribbean.
Massive 16-foot sliding glass doors open up to the lagoon style pool and patio designed with comfortable chairs, couch, gas barbeque, and fire pit. For those who love nothing more than to laze on the beach, a huge beachfront palapa with hammocks and chaise lounges await you. This protected bay is one of the calmest and most beautiful swimming and snorkel sites on the Mayan Riviera, safe enough for the kids, yet still within easy reach of a living coral reef and abundant tropical sea life.
The downstairs bedroom, from its vaulted tiled ceiling to its king size bed with carved colonial style headboard, offers a calm retreat from the rest of the house. This downstairs suite overlooks tropical gardens through its French doors and has additional seating on the private terrace.
The second floor opens up to a study with a ceiling to floor bookshelf filled with books, music, movies and games. The space is complete with an antique writing desk where Internet access is available -- so bring your laptop.
The spacious master suite includes French doors opening onto a private beachfront terrace and king-size bed framed with a headboard of antique doors. A sky-lit bathroom, oversized shower and picture window overlooking an upstairs garden complete this master spa.
Two beachfront bedrooms offering panoramic views of the bay and beach are nothing short of amazing. Each offer queen beds, hand crafted headboards and stunning tile bathrooms. These bedrooms open up to an enormous and exclusive ocean front balcony, which runs the span of the home complete with chaise lounges and ceiling fans.
All bedrooms feature handcrafted armoires and bedside tables from San Miguel de Allende and beautiful curtains with blackout shades for those late sleepers.
The rooftop open-air seating area shaded with a tropical canopy offers a 360-degree view of the Caribbean on one side and jungle on the other. You can relax on the couches, lie in a Mayan hammock, gaze at the stars and wonder why you would ever want to leave such a magical place.
